Rockstar Training Academy 2018 Is Here!

Sound of Music’s Rockstar Training Academy is a unique live performance program that is open to students of all ages and skill levels, including adults. The program is staffed with not only professional musicians, but professional instructors that will coach each band on song selection, stage presence, equipment settings, and more! Each band will learn a number of different songs in varying styles that they will prepare for a single performance.

This semester will run from November 6th, 2017 through March 10th, 2018. Each student will be placed in a band based upon age, skill level, and interest, that will meet once a week for 1 hour to rehearse. Rehearsals will be held on the same day and at the same time each week.


Tuition for Rockstar Training Academy is $200. This includes: Materials, T ­Shirt, Band Photos, and Rehearsal Time.


REHEARSALS START: November 6th, 2017 at Sound of Music
PERFORMANCE: March 10th, 2018 at 6:00 PM at IUK Havens Auditorium

The Rockstar Training Academy (RTA) is a unique musical education program that takes students of all ages and skill levels and places them in a band that they rehearse with in preparation for live performances. The program is an extension of Sound of Music, which is a family owned and operated music store and musical educational facility located in Kokomo, IN. The RTA is staffed by a number of top-notch instructors who are not only professional musicians but professional instructors.

Rockstar Training Academy Mission Statement:

To advance the music education of students of all ages and skill levels in a structured and positive environment that instills the principles of teamwork, dedication, and individual responsibility.

Program Goals

*To provide a comprehensive musical education with an emphasis on performance skills.

*To provide an environment that promotes and encourages a life­long pursuit of musical education.

*To provide each student with skill sets that reach beyond music, emphasizing the importance of an open-minded approach towards the arts and their peers.

*To provide an alternative musical outlet for students who want to pursue music in a contemporary format.


Each student will be placed in a band based upon age, skill level, and interest. Each band will have an assigned practice time on the same day each week for 1 hour. They will learn a minimum of 2 songs that they will prepare for a concert. Practice days and times will be assigned at orientation.
